Which Meditation Style is the Best?

The research seems clear that all styles of meditation are potentially beneficial, but no one has addressed questions about which forms of mediation are better for certain individuals.

For example, are certain practices more helpful for anxiety than others? What about depression or addictions?

Some people are drawn toward specific practices and have an aversion toward others. Does that mean that the ones they like are best for them? What about people with different brainwave patterns? Do certain brains respond better to certain practices?

The short answer to these questions is that all meditation practices can be helpful. It is unlikely that you will “mess something up” by choosing a “wrong” meditation style.

There is no such thing as a “wrong” style. As all forms of exercise are beneficial, so too are all meditation styles. You will see a different result from running than weight training, and you will see a different result if you choose a Focus meditation than a Quiet Mind meditation

Which meditation style you choose and which practices you select should be related to your goals, your personality, and your brain tendencies.
