Remote EEG NeuroMeditation Demonstration with Divergence Neuro

Join Jeff Tarrant, PhD, BCN and Heather Hargraves MA, C.Psych.Assoc. (SP) of The NeuroMeditation Institute and Divergence Neuro as they walk you through a demonstration of the newest Divergence platform including software and hardware like the new no-gel EEG crown.

The Divergence Neuro Platform allows users to define treatment programs that include a variety of quantitative and qualitative assessments and predefined or custom treatment protocols. The platform allows straightforward creation of new assessments or protocols using simple point-and-click to define questions and answers, choose EEG devices, channels, thresholds and feedback modalities.

The Divergence iPhone and Android native mobile apps for patients allows them to access the treatment programs assigned to them. It guides them through connecting to and using a wireless EEG device and executes the neurofeedback or neuromeditation protocols assigned to them. It will also leverage gamification and notifications to encourage them to complete wellness assessments and treatment sessions to allow progress tracking.

All of the assessment responses and EEG data collected using the Divergence mobile app is stored in a HIPAA compliant cloud and is made available in an easy to understand dashboard. High level treatment progress statistics, detailed EEG data, assessment answer trends and more are available to easily analyze patient progress.

About the Hosts:

Jeff Tarrant, PhD, BCN- Jeff Tarrant, Ph.D., BCN is the founder and Director of the NeuroMeditation Institute in Eugene, OR. He is a licensed psychologist and board certified in neurofeedback. Dr. Tarrant is also the Chief Science Officer for Healium, XR, creating biometrically controlled virtual and augmented reality experiences. In addition, Dr. Tarrant is a Scientific Advisor to both Divergence Neuro and Neuphony, creators of cloud-based neurofeedback software and wireless EEG headsets.

Dr. Tarrant specializes in teaching, clinical applications, and research combining technology- based interventions with meditative states for improved mental health. His research focuses on exploring brainwave changes that occur as a result of contemplative practices, technological interventions, and non-ordinary states of consciousness. Dr. Tarrant is the author of the book, “Meditation Interventions to Rewire the Brain.”

In addition to his clinical background, Dr. Tarrant has also trained extensively in a variety of spiritual and meditative practices, including Zen, Vipassana, Taoism/Qigong, Arhatic Yoga, and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). Most recently, Dr. Tarrant has begun offering preparation and integration support for those working with psychedelic therapies. This work includes using neurofeedback-based approaches to assist in the process. Dr. Tarrant is currently offering these services for Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy in association with Dr. Christopher Leesman at Corvallis Family Medicine. Dr. Tarrant also offers psychedelic integration and harm reduction services in conjunction with the Looking Glass Peyote Church of Oregon.

Heather Hargraves MA, C.Psych.Assoc. (SP)

Heather Hargraves, MA., C.Psych.Assoc. (SP), NMI-3 is one of the core founders of Divergence Neuro, a cloud-based software platform that allows clinicians to offer neurofeedback and neuromeditation therapies from a distance. Heather is also resident scientist for Divergence neuro and a neuromeditation instructor with the NeuroMeditation Institute. Heather works as a clinical and rehabilitation psychological associate in London, Ontario, Canada.

Heather specializes in the use of neuro and biofeedback technologies to support a broad range of neurologically and/or psychologically traumatized clients within her clinical practice.

Heather’s research interests investigate the neurological underpinnings of various states of consciousness, including dissociation, meditation, psychedelics and various polyphasic states of consciousness, associated with shamanic practices. Her masters research focused on the therapeutic induction of altered states of consciousness, based on research findings related to psilocybin (i.e., magic mushrooms).

Prior to her training as a neurofeedback therapist Heather worked as a yoga and meditation instructor, as well as a reflexologist and Thai massage therapist. It was her personal experience with these modalities that inspired her to pursue further study as a therapist, with a focus toward understanding the neurological underpinnings of these mind/body therapies.

Currently, Heather is an advocate for the interface of neurofeedback modalities with psychedelic therapies, with an emphasis on the preparation and integration periods that bookend psychedelic therapies, once they are legalized.
